Please take the time to fill out the registration document in order to join the Provo YASA club.I hope to keep the quarterly dues at $30. That is $10/month. This amount includes the purchase of the assigned book for discussion. If you already have the book, the monthly dues will be minus the cost of the book (provided you tell me in advance). My concern is that your daughter will have the books with enough time to read before the next meeting. Dues will need to be paid at the first meeting on May 20th.
Dues Schedule:
May-July: $25
September-November: $30
January-March: TBA
April-June: TBA
If for any reason the economy is taking a toll on your family, please contact me. I'm sure something can be worked out through a bartering system so that your daughter can enjoy participation in this club. I can be reached at 801-850-6554.
Our first meeting on May 20th will include committee meetings to decide future activities, service projects, answering questions, hospitality assignments, election of president, vice president, secretary, and creating bylaws (or at lest trying to create if time permits).
May 20th's activity will be to plant a YASA friendship garden. We will do this next to our meeting room so that the girls can watch the development each month. The girls will paint rocks for the border.
May 20th's book discussion will include the girls sharing a female character or real person that exemplifies faith, courage, determination, virtue,...that your daughter has appreciation for. I will hand out the book for June at this meeting. I think I want to talk to the co-advisers and determine the books otherwise I think we will spend to much time deciding with the girls. The girls are going to focus on the activities and service projects.
May 20th's service project is not known yet. Maybe my mother in-law can share about her mission to the humanitarian department and she might have a small project we can work on. More info to come...
I believe I have two co-advisers now. Jessica Lewis and Carolyn Smith.
Once you register, I will send an invite to you and your daughter to blog at this blogsite. I would like you (parent) to help your daughter share about herself and include a picture if that is o.k. Once the club starts, I will make the blog private to include only the emails that are submitted to me.
I think this is a good start. I hope the registration form works for you. It was fine for me.
I will open registration to other families in about two weeks. I wanted to give those who contacted me first the opportunity to continue. We will limit the size to 15. Ages 10 through 13.
